Newsletter for week ending 29 September 2017

Open Morning – Tuesday 3 October

A reminder that the school and Little Bears will be open to visitors from 9.00 to 11.45am for current families and the local community, as well as for the families now making their decisions about their choice of primary school for September 2018. Please do come along and see the school at work between these times if you are able, whether you are a prospective parent or an existing one!

Applications for Secondary Schools to start in September 2018

Children born between 1 September 2006 and 31 August 2007 (inclusive) need to apply for a secondary school place for their children.

From 8 September 2017 you can apply online for a secondary school place. If you are unable to apply online, you can complete a paper application form. The deadline for receipt of secondary school applications is 31 October 2017.

Please note that UID numbers no longer work for online applications. Applicants now have to manually enter all requested details. If your application is late, it will be processed later in the year, and you are far less likely to get a place at one of your preferred schools.

Local Funeral in Cratlands Close

Could we respectfully request please that the approach to school in Cratlands Close is kept as clear of cars as possible by 9.30am on Tuesday 10 October for the funeral of a local resident, Mrs Bartlett. Thank you for your co-operation in this matter.

Change to the normal menu on Thursday 5 October 2017

Food and More have made a change to the normal meals menu for Thursday 5 October. The menu for the day is now Beef Burger in a bun or Hot Dog or Vegetarian Burger. All served with sweet potato wedges and salad; strawberry shortcake for dessert or fresh fruit.

Harvest Festival

A reminder that our annual Harvest Festival will take place in the Hall at 9.05am on Friday 6 October and families are most welcome to join us. Each class will present what they have been finding out about Harvest as well as singing lots of lovely songs. We hope that each child will be able to bring a small contribution into school before our service. We pass on our Harvest gifts to The Porch Centre in Oxford who prefer to receive non-perishable items such as packets of pasta, tins of beans, bars of chocolate, packets of biscuits, tins of tomatoes, tins of spaghetti, etc rather than fresh produce. Thank you.

We hope that you will stay on afterwards and buy a tea or coffee with cake, to support the charity ‘Send a Cow.’ Class 1 will tell everyone about the charity during their part of Harvest and explain how it helps people in poverty in other parts of the world. If you can’t make it to our Harvest Celebration and would like to make a donation, then please do hand it into the office. Their website is: https://www.sendacow.org/about-us if you would like more details. Thank you.
