Week Ending 21 JUNE 2019

 During JUNE we are focusing on the core value of Honesty

 Arrangements for Class 1 for September 2019
We are aware that there are some concerns regarding arrangements for Class 1 in September and plans are being finalised for a parents’ meeting to be held shortly. Details will be sent out by letter this week. One of the concerns we are aware of relate to the expected number of pupils in the class – we currently calculate that to be 24 children in total. Further information will be shared at the meeting.

Mrs Wahid
We are delighted to share the news with you that Mrs Wahid is planning to make some return visits to school this week and we look forward to seeing her. During these visits, Mrs Wahid will spend most of her time supporting children in Class 3  but, as you will see from the information below, during the ‘Moving Up’ days, she will be sharing the teaching in Class 2 with Mrs James.

Moving Up Days
As you will be aware from previous newsletters, our annual ‘Moving Up’ days will, this year, be on Wednesday 3rd, Thursday 4th and Friday 5th July, to coincide with Year 6 transition days to Icknield Community College. All pupils will be ‘moving up’ a year-group during these three days to gain an insight into their class arrangements for September. These will be as follows;

Class
Teacher(s)
Mini Project
3
Mrs Moore
‘Underwater World’
2
Mrs Wahid and Mrs James
‘Magic’
1
Current Year 1 children to start the day with Mrs Manzie in Class 1; Current Reception and New Reception children to start with Mrs Stafford in Ladybirds’ classroom.
The two groups will join together in Class 1 during the morning where they will be taught by Mrs Stafford, supported by 3 TAs, for the rest of the day where they will need to be collected from at 3:15pm
‘Patterns’

After School Archery
Thank you to those parents who have confirmed a date to help as an observer/monitor for the Afterschool Archery sessions. We are still requiring a volunteer to help on the 1st July. Please could you let the school office know if you can assist? Thank you.

Meerkat Champion of the Week
Congratulations to;

Class 1 - Tommy
Class 2  - Zac
Class 3  - Ella

Well done to you all!

Forest School Helpers
As you know, Forest School sessions can only take place if we have enough volunteer helpers to accompany us to the Forest School site.  If anyone is interested in helping at any Forest School session, please speak to Melanie Gravett or let the office know.

In particular, we need helpers for the Year 2 sessions over the next four weeks - Tuesday mornings on 25th June, 2nd July, 9th July and 16th July.

Forest School - Year 6, Thursday 27th June
As you know, next Thursday 27th June will be the final Forest School session for year 6.  As in previous years, we would like to hold a slightly extended session to include lunch.  This means year 6 will leave school as normal in the morning around 9am, will then remain at Forest School for lunch returning to school for the afternoon.

We would very much appreciate a donation of £1.50 towards the cost of food, as the children will not need a school dinner or packed lunch on that day.

Please leave any monies in the office together with details of any special dietary requirements. Many thanks.

African mask making and dance workshop

Next Wednesday all children will have the opportunity to take part in two workshops. During the morning they will be making African masks, this links with our International Focus country of Uganda. In the afternoon the children will use the masks they have made as part of a dance workshop. We would like to invite parents and carers to attend a short presentation of the work the children will have done during the day at 2.40pm and finishing at 3.00pm. We do hope you are able to attend.

 5-a-day.tv
We have recently signed up to an exercise programme called 5-a-day.tv. The children follow a 5 minute exercise routine with a variety of different levels of difficulty, they can also listen to the instructions in French, Spanish or Welsh. There are some 2 minute chill out routines as well. As part of our subscription there is the opportunity for children to login and practise at home, the details needed are as follows;

User Name : SPS6
Password : 3hpB40i9

The website address is https://player.5-a-day.tv/

If you have any problems logging in or would like any more information please see Mrs Stafford.

We hope you have fun, let us know your favourite routines.

Teams for Sports Night on Friday 12 July – 6pm arrival for races to start at 6.30pm
Pupils will know which team they have been put into for Sports Night today and the younger pupils will have this information on a slip so that they know what colour T-shirt they will need. (We may have bibs which could be borrowed if you don’t have the appropriate colour T-shirt.) The team colours are the Olympic colours of black, red, blue, green and yellow. If any pupil is not going to be at Sports Night it would be very useful for the teachers to know this before the teams are confirmed so that they are as fairly balanced as possible. Please let the School Office know by e-mail to office.2455@stadhampton.oxon.sch.uk

Thank you.

Wraparound Care at Stadhampton Primary School
We are pleased to announce that plans are well and truly underway for wraparound care at Stadhampton Primary School. Name to be confirmed but for the moment, Early Birds

(8.00-8.45am) and Night Owls (3.15-5.30pm) will be launching in September 2019. Booking forms and further details will be coming home soon with the children. We are looking for staff members (Level 3 Supervisor and support staff), and if you are interested in these roles or have any questions, please get in touch, contact school governors Anita Rowberry: anitarowberry@gmail.com and/or Kerri Jones: adamsjonesfive@gmail.com.  Thank you.

Stadhampton Village Do
Saturday 6 July, 2pm including a performance from Stadhampton Village School at 4pm - all children invited to attend.

The village is having a bit of a do - Saturday 6 July, from 2pm, on the village green. There'll be music from local artists, pony rides, a mega slide and face-painting plus food and drinks from The Crown and Browning Pizzas, football games, tug of war as well as the village Brook Race and lots more.

 The school choir will also be performing some of the songs from the recent Festival of Voices, and all the classes are invited to join them, parents too if we can manage it! Please see Mrs Manzie in Class 1 if you'd like to find out which songs will be sung etc. It's for all the family so please make a note and come along - you can bring a picnic, chairs, a gazebo if you want or just pop along to see and support the stall, and please keep everything crossed for good weather!

PTA News

Village Do - Saturday 6th July
The PTA will be running a chocolate and sweets tombola at the event, with proceeds raised from the stall coming back to PTA funds.  We would very much appreciate any donations of chocolate and sweets so if you are able to donate any confectionery of any description, please leave it in the PTA box in the hall.

 Sports Night - Friday 12th July
As ever, the PTA will be running a bar and BBQ at Sports Night on Friday 12th July.  Tickets for the BBQ will be on sale shortly, priced at £2.50 for burgers, sausages and vegetarian option.  We know it is difficult to predict how many BBQ items each family will want on the evening, but it really does help if with catering if tickets are bought in advance.  We will have some extras on the evening, but not many so please do try and plan ahead!

Children’s Disco - Thursday 18th July
We will be holding an end of term disco for the children on Thursday 18th July (last Thursday of term) from 5.30pm until 7pm.  Letters with permission slips will be in book bags shortly.

Cake Club
Well done Dixi and Jude for winning last week’s cakes.  We are looking forward to this week’s being provided by George.

Week Ending 14 JUNE 2019

During JUNE we are focusing on the core value of Honesty

Swimming
A reminder that Class 3 swimming starts on Monday 17th June and there are 5 sessions. As always, we are most grateful to receive a ‘voluntary contribution’ from parents towards the cost of the transport (currently £75 a visit) in cash or by cheque please (for £10 for the five sessions,) with cheques made payable to Stadhampton Primary – Acer Trust. Thank you.

Recorders
Weekly recorder lessons for all children in Classes 2 and 3 also start again on Monday 17th June - please can children bring in their recorders and recorder books every Monday for the rest of this term. Thank you.

Science
This term Class 3 have been involved in The Big Science Event. This is run by Science Oxford and gives children the chance to formulate their own science investigation and produce a poster based on their experiments and the results. The children worked in groups and there were some excellent ideas for investigation. The class then chose 1 group to present their idea to a judge from Science Oxford. The winning group’s investigation observed the effects of different solutions on bubble gum and slime. The children presented their ideas confidently and had even thought of some practical uses for their experiment, such as council use for removing bubble gum from pavements. Well done to our enthusiastic scientists!

Meerkat Champion of the Week
Congratulations to;
Class 1 - Danny
Class 2  - Betsy
Class 3  - Mya

Well done to you all!

A message from Class 2
On Wednesday 12th June Class Two went to Sulgrave Manor. They did all sorts of activities like dressing up in Tudor costumes, dancing, helping in the kitchen, looking at herbs and writing with a quill. They had an amazing time seeing the house, even if it was only half! The dance was a horse-like dance. The children were hard workers in the kitchen. They visited a Forge too. In the bed chamber we looked at the wonderful canopy bed with its fancy curtains. We were surprised that they went to the toilet in a pot!!! We also looked at different mattresses, like feathers, straw and wool or nothing.
