Year 6 Leavers

We say a fond farewell to our Year 6 pupils as they leave Stadhampton School on Friday. We are very proud of you all; you have contributed to the life of Stadhampton School and have achieved so many things, academic and non-academic, during your time with us. We will miss you all but know that you are ready for the next stage of your learning journey and wish you every success at your secondary schools, which this year are Icknield Community College and Oxford Spires Academy. We hope you will all keep in touch.

We also say goodbye and good luck to Harry and Jamie Waters who are moving to a new school, to Oliver Bourne who is also moving school and to Chloe Kamali who is emigrating.

We will also say goodbye at our assembly tomorrow to Mrs Humphries and to Mrs Gonzalez and wish them both every success in their new schools.

Update from the Governing Body

Further to the discussions at the Parents’ forum earlier this year, the Governing Body wanted to keep parents up to date with our ongoing consideration of Academy Status. The governors have a duty of care to consider the pros and cons of joining a Multi-Academy Trust and we have started a process to assess whether this is something that we wish to seriously pursue. At this point in time no decisions have been taken, and we are simply in a period of analysing our options and data gathering. We are hoping to conclude this initial assessment by the end of September and will provide further updates in due course.

We are delighted to share the names of our "MEERKAT Champion of the Week" award in each class last week as follows;

Sports Evening

Congratulations to everyone on a very successful Sports Evening! Thank you to Mrs Manzie and other school staff for organising the races so well and to Mr Manzie and Mrs Hopkins for helping on the bar. Thank you to the BBQ team of Debbie Bradford, Mr and Mrs Rayner and Moyna de Selincourt who all did a great job and to Mr Holmes for organising the loan of the BBQ. Thank you to the PTA for purchasing the burgers and hot dogs and the drinks and for all the clearing up at the end of the evening. Thank you to past pupils and to governors (including ex-governors!) for their help with the scoreboard and giving out stickers. A very good team effort!

Official Notice of the PTA's Annual General Meeting (AGM) – Tuesday 3rd October, 8pm in the School Hall

The PTA plays a vital part in the school community and all parents, as members of the PTA, are invited to support the AGM. This is your chance to hear and see how the funds you have helped to raise have been used for the benefit of the children at our school.

We appreciate the date of the AGM in October is a while away, but we wanted official notice of the meeting to be sent out before the summer holidays so that everyone has time to think about coming along to the meeting and / or getting more involved with the PTA.

The PTA Committee (Chair, Treasurer, Secretary) will be elected at the AGM so if you are interested in taking on one of these roles for the forthcoming academic year, please speak to Melanie Gravett who can give you more details about what is involved.

Ofsted Report

Following our recent school inspection we have now received the final report from Ofsted. This means that we can now share the outcome and I am very pleased to be able to say that Ofsted judged us to be ‘good’ in every category. This is a very positive outcome. A paper copy of the report was sent to each family earlier this week and an electronic copy has been uploaded onto the school website.

Ofsted is, quite rightly, a rigorous process and this judgement is a reflection of the on-going hard-work, commitment and professionalism of all members of the staff, the positive attitude of our pupils, the commitment of our governing body and the support and engagement of parents and carers. Together we make Stadhampton School the successful and special place that it is, and one to be proud of.

Thank you.

Sports Evening

Our Sports Evening is an annual school highlight. Pupils have been practising, the PTA have all the refreshments organised, the governors are ready to adjudicate and we’re keeping our fingers crossed for a dry evening. Here are a few final reminders to ensure that we all have an enjoyable and safe evening:

Pupils should arrive at school at 6.15pm so that the races may begin promptly at 6.30pm. Please remember to send them with a drink of water or squash!

Parking – if you are able to walk to sports evening it would be much appreciated and really help the congestion in Cratlands Close. The netball court will be available for a limited amount of parking. Please be mindful of the residents of Cratlands Close and avoid obstructing access in and out of driveways.

Spectator line: a line has been marked for parents/carers/visitors to position themselves behind so that pupils are able to run safely in the outside lanes. Please bring a folding deckchair or rug if you would like to sit down.

Finishing line: is where the judges will be waiting to award stickers, update the scoreboard, etc.

It is important that everyone else keep this area clear, please.

Bar: the bar will be open from 6.15pm. Please support the PTA by buying your drinks from the bar.

BBQ: bbq food will be available during the races for spectators wishing to exchange their food tickets at this time and avoid the big queue after the races.

Play equipment: for insurance purposes this area is not available for use during sports evening.

Young children: please keep younger siblings away from the racetrack whilst the races are on to avoid potential collisions!

Football/ball games: we politely request that no ball games are played whilst the races are taking place.

Should there be any need to postpone we will send an e-mail tomorrow and post a message on the home page of the school website. Thank you.

Increase in School Meal Price 2017/18

After consultation between Oxfordshire County Council and Food & More (Carillion) a revised meal price of £2.20 has been agreed and this will be introduced from September 2017 until August 2018.

School Meals Menu

The new lunch menu which begins in September 2017 has been uploaded to the school website this week. Paper copies are available in the school office for any families that would like one.

Big Science Event

Tillie, Ella, Tende, Juliana and Isabella were lucky enough to be chosen to go to the Big Science event in Oxford on July the 6th.  Their science experiment and presentation  called " Stressy SATs- does music help you relax?" was one of 12 pieces of work chosen to go to the events final out of more than 200 entries and 1200 pupil participants!! They did a smooth, slick and convincing presentation in front of 3 very tough ( but kind ) judges.  During the day, they had a tour of the Abbott Laboratories and were shown a number of science experiments as well as being able to do some simple tests themselves. All in all whilst they didn't win the final prize,  they were winners for being there in the first place. Well done the " stress testers" as they call themselves.

Festival of Voices

We are delighted to let you know that collections were made on each evening of the Festival of Voices recently and that in total £2075 was raised for Save the Children fund. Thank you to everyone who contributed to this amazing result.

Clarinets

Please could all current Year 5 pupils make sure that their clarinet is back in school and ready for collection by the County Music Service on Monday.

As several families of current Year 4 pupils were unable to make a commitment to paying a voluntary contribution for ‘First Access’ clarinet lessons in the new academic year, we are, unfortunately, unable to continue to offer the lessons to them as Year 5s. We know that a number of families will be very disappointed with this outcome and we are exploring other options which we will share when we know more.

Year 6 Treat on Monday 10 July

We have arranged for Year 6 pupils to visit the Crazy Bear Farm Shop on Monday 10 July for an end of year leavers treat. They will be accompanied by Mrs Hopkins and Mrs Wilkin. Thank you to everyone who has paid the requested donation of £3 towards the cost of this special treat. Cash or cheque please to Stadhampton Primary School. Thank you.

Forest School Year 6 – Thursday 13 July

Year 6’s last Forest School session will be in the morning of Thursday 13th July.  As in previous years, we would like to mark the occasion by staying at Forest School for a slightly extended session, so that Y6 can have lunch cooked on the fire (hot dogs, marshmallows etc).  This would mean the children would return to school by 1pm and would not need a packed lunch or school meal on that day.

We would very much appreciate a contribution of £1.50 per child to cover the cost of lunch.  Please return this to Melanie Gravett or the school office as soon as possible and also let us know about any special dietary requirements. Thank you to everyone who has already paid this.

PTA News:
