Newsletter No 4 / 24th September 2010

Parents Consultation Evenings
This year we are making slight changes to our annual, appointments–based, parents’ evening in November. We are offering two alternative after school sessions; Monday 15th November 4.30 – 7.00pm and Wednesday 17th November 3.30 – 6.00pm. Appointments will be for 10 minutes with class teacher(s) and, as usual, parents will be able to look at their child’s/children’s work beforehand. Arrangements for making appointments will be circulated nearer the time but we hope that by being given plenty of notice and the option of either of the two dates, all parents will be able to attend one or other of the consultation evenings.

School Photographer
We would like to remind all families that the school photographer will be taking photographs during the morning of Wednesday 29th September – freshly laundered hair and combed down uniform! Each pupil will be photographed individually and with any siblings in school. If any family would like to have any family group photographs taken, please come into the school hall at 8.45am.

Kids Aid Tanzania
Congratulations to former Stadhampton School pupils Michael Amery and Jack Banting who recently canoed 130 miles along the River Thames to raise money for the charity Kids Aid Tanzania. Michael and Jack, along with two other pupils at Icknield Community College, achieved the journey in seven days. The money they raised will go towards education, food and health-care for the orphans in Tanzania.

Nit Alert
We are grateful to a parent in Class 1 for letting us know that their child has recently had nits. We would be grateful if everyone could check their child(ren’s) hair this weekend and treat if necessary, so that this problem does not spread further.

A big Hello and Welcome from the P.T.A!
Hopefully, all families should have been handed a letter about the P.T.A. giving details on what they do and some fund raising ideas planned for the year. If you haven’t received one, please pick up a copy from the school office. It has lots of vital information, including the venue and date of our first meeting – which will be held on Tuesday, 14th September at Eimer Fernie’s house, 15b, Newells Close, at 8.00pm. Please feel free to come along. There are two new Co-Chairs who will be taking the reins – Eimer Fernie (Orla’s mum) and Sarah Madry (Alice, Ewan and Greg’s mum). They would both be very happy to have a chat about any ideas you may have regarding fund raising. Details of how to contact them are in the parent’s letter.
The P.T.A. are looking forward to putting into motion some great events and are very grateful for the support we know parents will give us along the way. Look out for more P.T.A. news in future newsletters.
