Newsletter for week
ending 6 October 2017
Happy
OCTOBER Birthday to: Noah Bevis, Wyatt Bullock, Laila Burnell, Ella Fulker, Mia
Gravett, Jake Jones, Harvey Khan, Grace Monahan, Oliver Parkes and Harry Smith.
During
October we are focusing on the core value of RESPONSIBILITY
Harvest
Service in school tomorrow morning at 9.05am
Our annual
Harvest Festival will take place in the Hall at 9.05am TOMORROW and families
are most welcome to join us. Once again we will be supporting The Porch, (http://www.theporch.org.uk/)
an
organisation which provides a stepping stone for homeless people
in Oxford, with our Harvest Gifts. We
hope that each child will be able to bring a small contribution into school before
our service. The Porch prefer to receive non-perishable items such as
packets of pasta, tins of beans, bars of chocolate, packets of biscuits, tins
of tomatoes, tins of spaghetti, etc rather than fresh produce.
We
hope that you will stay on afterwards and buy a tea or coffee with cake, to
support the charity ‘Send a Cow.’ Class 1 will tell everyone about the
charity during their part of Harvest and explain how it helps people in poverty
in other parts of the world. If you can’t make it to our Harvest Celebration
and would like to make a donation, then please do hand it into the office.
Their website is: https://www.sendacow.org/about-us
if you would like more details. Thank you.
Applications
for Secondary Schools to start in September 2018
Children born between 1 September 2006 and
31 August 2007 (inclusive) need to apply for a secondary school place for their
children. You can now apply online for a secondary school place. If you are
unable to apply online, you can complete a
paper application form. The deadline
for receipt of secondary school applications is 31 October 2017.
Please note that
UID numbers no longer work for online applications. Applicants now have to
manually enter all requested details. If your application is late, it will be
processed later in the year, and you are far less likely to get a place at one
of your preferred schools.
Exciting English News
On Wednesday 11 October children in Yr1-6 will
have the fabulous opportunity to watch the Quantum Theatre company perform
their play called ‘The Writing on the Wall’, which has been written to tie in
with the new English curriculum.
Local
Funeral in Cratlands Close
Could we respectfully request please that
the approach to school in Cratlands Close is kept as clear of cars as possible
by 9.30am on Tuesday 10 October for the funeral of a local resident, Mrs
Bartlett. Thank you in advance, for your respectful co-operation.
Swimming
Contributions
Thank you to the families in Class 2 who
have very kindly made a voluntary contribution for their child’s swimming
transport to the Abbey Sports Centre this term. This is very much appreciated
and really does help us to make our limited school budget stretch a bit
further. Thank you again.

Message
from Mrs Wilkin
It was a wonderful surprise to be presented
with a mini 'This is Your Stadhampton Life' during my last lunchtime as a
permanent employee of Stadhampton School. The 'Book' which had
contributions from all the children in School and lovely photographs and
memories was brilliant. The flowers were, and still are, lovely. I also
received lovely messages from many parents and staff. It is great to know that
my efforts were so much appreciated. The amazing glassware serving dish, more
flowers and afternoon tea voucher were unexpected and very welcome. The very
special gift from Morgan - a shiny flint - has taken pride of place with a
shell collection which has just been passed to me by my mother. She treasured
those shells as they were given to her over the years by grandchildren. They
are now carefully displayed as a garden feature with Morgan's present on top.
It has been a wonderful 9 years at
Stadhampton and I am glad I am still going to come in on Thursday afternoons
for the foreseeable future. I would like
to thank everybody for making me so welcome in the Stadhampton School family.

LITTLE
BEARS NEWS:
This

about all the different animals and all the different fruits Handa has in her
basket. We have also enjoyed painting with oranges and creating pictures of all
the different fruits.
The
children also enjoyed the book "Snake Skipping Rope". We used paper
plates to make springy snakes and practised our scissor control.
