The final amount raised from the sale of tickets and donations collected during the Christmas Productions was £262.23. Thank you. This will be put towards our grounds development projects.

School Christmas Lunch
All pupils and staff thoroughly enjoyed a splendid Christmas lunch on Tuesday prepared and cooked by Mrs Shortman. Thank you to parents for encouraging all pupils to participate in this enjoyable event.

Carol Service
Thank you to Reverend Nigel and Reverend David for their help at this service and to all parents, carers and grandparents who came along. Many people have commented on the wonderful singing that filled the church.

Premier Sports Holiday Club – 20th, 21st, 22nd, 23rd December
As you are aware, we are hosting for the first time a holiday course run by Premier Sports Group here at Stadhampton School. If any parents have not yet completed application forms but would like their child(ren) to attend, it is possible for parents to register and pay on the day. If you would like to do this, please come along ten minutes early before the 9am start or you may register with Mrs Hopkins tomorrow or on Friday morning. Children should have warm clothing for outdoor activities, but if the weather is particularly cold or wet, many of the activities will take place in the school hall.

ParentMail
We sent home today via book bags a letter explaining that we are going to use ParentMail to improve our communication with parents. We shall begin setting this up once we have received back the completed data capture forms attached to the letter. We would be grateful to receive the completed forms back as soon as possible so that we can get the new system up and running.
Little Bears News
Well here we are at the end of another term, where has the time gone? The Little Bears are showing signs of great excitement as we get closer to Christmas and at the news of our party on Friday.
This is the last news that I (Hayley) will write, as I say goodbye on Friday. I would like to take this opportunity to wish the staff and the new supervisor Gemma all the best and every success in the future. Also to wish all a very Merry Christmas and a happy, peaceful New Year.

New Hymn Books
We have recently purchased 40 new hymn books and would be delighted if any parents or grandparents would offer to cover them for us in order to extend their natural life! We have a roll of covering in school ready for use!

Newsletter No 6 /10th December 2010

Chair of Governors
I am sure that all parents and staff will join me in thanking Craig Tombling for his commitment to the school as a governor and Chair of Governors for many years. Mr Tombling has now decided to step down from the Governing Body due to work commitments. We are delighted to announce that Jason Hector has been appointed as the new Chair of Governors with immediate effect. Sara Wright has been appointed as Vice-Chair.
Other current members of the Governing Body are Jolyon Roe, Reverend Nigel Hawkes, Richard Freeth, Nikki Howlett, Mrs Turner, Mrs Garrard (who represents the teaching staff ) and Mrs Hopkins, who is an Associate Governor.

Christmas Productions – KS2 Report by Richard Freeth, School Governor
“It will be of no surprise to parents that children can act, but what I saw in the Stadhampton School KS2 Festive play this year took it to a much higher level. Not only can they all act but also sing and dance brilliantly. An inspired choice of play had all KS2 (I would list them but so many) in a story about a performing troupe having to visit Santa (cheer) but evil (boo) gets in the way. I was very pleasantly surprised by how well they all delivered the complex lines and songs. The jokes, sourced from crackers, made us all laugh. What more could you ask for? Well in the performance I saw, it had to be Santa learning why you need a belt and braces! Despite a trouser problem he carried on like a seasoned pro. Overall a very enjoyable hour, make sure you book your tickets for next year. Oh and the story ultimately, like all good Christmas stories, ends well as the whole cast join on stage to wish us all a very “Merry Christmas.”

KS1 Report by Amy and Chloe B. from Class 3
“Foundation Stage and Class 1’s Christmas play performance, “Simply Nativity,” included amazing songs that were well sung. It was an action-packed performance, full of great acting and effort from the children. Our favourite song of the performance was “Hopping Along to Bethlehem”. The audience (including the adults!) was well-behaved and joined in with the songs. We’re sure they enjoyed it all just as much as we did.”

We are pleased to let you know that we raised just over £240 from these performances towards our new play equipment. We would like to pay special thanks to Melissa Tombling for helping pupils prepare for the production and to Sue Cyprien for doing the face-painting, to Mrs Wilkin who designed and made the majority of the props, to all staff for their hard work, to the PTA for providing refreshments, to the parents for providing splendid costumes, and of course, to all pupils for providing memorable entertainment. Thank you all!

Partnership Hockey Tournament – Report by Maisie and Chloe S
“Some Year 4 and 5 pupils went to a hockey tournament in Wallingford. We came 3rd out of 6 teams. It was great fun and we thought we did well. We would enjoy doing it again and think we would do even better! We would like to thank everyone that took part. We would also like to thank Mrs Scragg and Mr Day for transporting us to the tournament and Miss Cornwell (from ICC) who organised the tournament. Thanks especially to Mrs Scragg for teaching us to play hockey.”

Partnership Swimming Gala – Report by Ben D and Amber
“On Monday 29th November, seven pupils from Class 3 went to the Watlington Partnership of Schools annual Swimming Gala. Six teams were meant to turn up but two didn’t make it. All the races were very close and most of them were only won by a few strokes. In the end we came a close fourth. Afterwards there were some novelty races and we came first! Special thanks to Mrs Green for helping to transport and support us and to Mrs White for her support and team snacks!”

Outdoor Performance Area
We are very pleased to inform you that, this week, wooden bench seating was installed around the outdoor mosaic in our school grounds. This exciting development now creates a mini outdoor performance area for all our pupils to access. It is intended that this area will be used (weather permitting!) formally for drama during literacy lessons and, less formally, for “performing arts” activities during playtimes. You are most welcome to look at this feature –
you will find it behind the school swimming pool. Many thanks to the PTA for funding this project which forms the first stage of several planned developments to improve our outdoor facilities and opportunities.

Very many thanks to the PTA for organising such a wonderful Winter Fair last Friday and thank you all for your generous support. There was a very warm atmosphere despite the actual outdoor temperature! Further details of this event are presented under PTA News below.

PTA News
The P.T.A. won’t be asking for any donations this week! - We would instead like to say a HUGE THANK YOU! to parents, carers, staff, governors, members of the community and all P.T.A. members and everyone’s families who contributed in any way, towards the most wonderful evening on Friday. The Winter Fair was an amazing success and it is all down to the support that you gave. We managed to take over £1,000 and once Matt, our treasurer, has deducted expenses we will be able to confirm the grand total raised. Watch this space!

A “very special thank you” goes to Santa for stopping by on his way to the North Pole-it was great to see you!

The P.T.A. would like to thank Charlotte Hector for organising the beautiful Christmas cards this year. Well done to all the children who did some lovely art work - the cards looked great! We raised over £120 so thank you for all your hard work.

Little Bears News
Christmas is well under way at Little Bears. We have a tree up, many decorations made and the children are getting better and better at the Christmas songs for the Nativity. We welcome Bella Jones to Little Bears this week, she seems to have made a very positive start. We hope she continues to enjoy her time with us.
