Class Curriculum Overviews – ‘Jigsaws’
Termly
curriculum overviews for the Summer Term, which comprises a coloured ‘jig-saw’
with each coloured ‘piece’ representing a subject area, have now been completed
and uploaded to the school website under the ‘Classes’ section. Please also

Wheels at Work Money
boxes
Hopefully all families received the
cardboard money boxes sent home in bookbags before the Easter holidays in aid
of Stoke Mandeville Spinal Research’s Wheels at Work initiative. As you
know, Stoke Mandeville Spinal Research loaned the school some wheelchairs
before Easter and as a thank you, we would like to contribute to the charity’s
fundraising efforts. Thank you to the families who have already returned their
filled money boxes to school. If you would like to contribute, please return
the boxes to school by Wednesday 3rd May at the latest. Thank you.
Tests
for Pupils
End of KS1 Standard Attainment Tests (SATs)
for Year 2 pupils will take place throughout May. End of KS2 SATs for Year 6 pupils
follow a set national timetable and take place during the week beginning 8 May.
Pupils in Years 3, 4 and 5 also have assessment tests in May. We respectfully
request that routine dentist or doctor appointments are not made during this
time. Thank you.
Junior Citizen
Visit for Class 3
The Junior
Citizens Trust mission statement is "to provide education to children and
young persons who are residents of the County of Oxfordshire on a wide range of
health and safety issues".
During their two
hour visit this week Class 3 pupils experienced eight different safety scenarios
and were given the opportunity to practice making a call to emergency services.
Children were taught a variety of life skills which focus upon how to keep
themselves safe whilst potentially helping others who may be in difficulty or
distress.
Based on the controlled learning experiences provided, children were
encouraged to make decisions which they may face during a real life emergency.
Following attendance, each child received a free work book to allow the
learning experience to continue back at school or at home.

Once a year we have a Book Fair which will
be arriving this year on Monday 15 May. There will be a great selection of
books (look out for the leaflet in book bags which illustrates a selection of
them) chosen carefully to inspire and entertain young readers and earn, by way of commission, free books
for school. The Book fair will be open on Monday afternoon, before and
after school on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and the last opportunity to
purchase will be on Friday morning. This year we have a special offer of 3 books for the price of 2 and we look
forward to seeing you there! Thank you.
