Update on Mrs Wahid
I have recently been in contact with Mrs Wahid and I know colleagues, pupils and parents will be keen to have an update. I understand that Mrs Wahid is responding to treatment but the treatment remains on-going and we do not expect her to be teaching in school before the end of the Spring Term. Mrs Bartlett and Mrs Moore, ably assisted by Mrs Singleton, Mrs Ellis and Mrs Gravett, will continue to teach Class 3 for the next half term. I’m sure the whole school community join me in sending warm wishes and positive thoughts to Mrs Wahid.

New KS2 Class Teacher
We are delighted to announce that we have appointed Mrs Nichola Moore as a class teacher at Stadhampton School. Mrs Moore will be taking over the teaching of Class 2 following Mrs Garrard’s retirement in April. I’m sure you will join me in welcoming Mrs Moore as a permanent member of our staff team.

Advance Notice of the Date for Work Viewing Evening
Parents will have an opportunity on Monday 11th March between 3.30pm and 6pm to see their child’s or children’s work. The class teacher will be on hand in the classroom to answer any questions you may have but no formal appointment system is in place for this work viewing evening. Parents are warmly welcome to share this opportunity with their children and we look forward to seeing you.

Year 6 Standard Assessment Tests (SATs)
As you may be aware, the Year 6 statutory Standard Assessment Tests (SATs) will take place the week beginning 13th May this year. To give children a better understanding of what the actual SATs week will entail, we will be holding  ‘Mock SATs’ over the course of  the first two weeks following half term. For your information, please find below an outline of the timetable:

Wednesday 27th February
Mathematics Paper 1 : Arithmetic
Mathematics Paper 2 : Reasoning
Thursday 28th February
Mathematics Paper 3: Reasoning
Monday 4th March
Paper 1: English - Reading Test
Thursday 7th March
Paper 2: English  - Grammar and Punctuation
Paper 3: Spelling

Carrying out the assessments earlier on will also give us an insight into the areas to focus on in preparation for the Statutory SATs this year.

Please also note that there will be a meeting for Year 6 parents regarding SATs after school on the 19th March in Class 3.

Parents Meeting, Wednesday 13th February
Thank you to everyone who came along to the parents evening on Wednesday. It was a good turn out and lovely to welcome new faces. The meeting was an opportunity for the Governing Body (GB) to update on staffing and finance matters as well as discuss the Acer Trust and what it means for our school.

We also kick-started a conversation about wraparound care in the village, to consider what that might look like. This is an important project for the community and needs to be researched thoroughly. In the first instance, we'd like to hear from parents and carers, as well as anyone considering Little Bears Preschool and Stadhampton Primary School as an option, to better understand the demands for such a service and ask that you email the school to register your interest or pass comment (office.2455@stadhampton.oxon.sch.uk) and they will pass all correspondence onto the GB. We will then set up a working group, which must include representation from school staff, the governing body, the community and parents (so please note in your email if you're happy to be in this) as any kind of care facility outside of the school day will need support and buy in from everyone involved (research, due diligence, legalities, logistics etc.). THANK YOU.

Staff Recruitment
We have had several applicants for the KS2 teacher post vacancy and will be interviewing on Wednesday 13th February. Part of this interview involves a teaching activity which will take place in Class 2. We plan to share the outcomes of the interview process in our next newsletter.

Shelter Box Update
The Shelter Box Trust have now received our collective donation of £590 and extended a big ‘Thank You’ to everyone. We have arranged for a representative from Shelter Box to talk to us in an assembly on Wednesday 27th February and show us some of the contents of the box and explain the work of the charity.

Our donation and the photograph of our Year 6 pupils in their Aladdin costumes (thank you to all the Year 6 parents for your permission) form part of the Shelter Box Facebook Live presentation, which can be found on the following link: https://www.facebook.com/ShelterBox/videos/386280635267714/

Chinese New Year
We welcomed in the Chinese ‘Year of the pig’ this week, with a whole school assembly and each class carrying out different activities to mark the occasion with our annual Jianzi Tournament after half term, in conjunction with our friends at Haźlach School in Poland. We have had a delivery of jianzi for the event and a number of children have been spotted concentrating hard on practising, so we look forward to some high scores!

Emergency Access
We appreciate that the car park gets very busy during our morning drop off and pick up times, however we ask that people please do not park in front of the school playground gates. These gates are for use by emergency vehicles and as such it is important that they are kept clear and unblocked at all times. We also ask that car park users please be considerate of others and only use our disabled parking space if necessary.

Internet Safety Day
On Wednesday this week Mrs Manzie took an assembly on staying safe online in conjunction with ‘Internet Safety Day 2019’. KS1 & KS2 pupils were shown a PowerPoint about safety online and how to be careful not to share personal details. They were also encouraged to involve their parents with their online activities and questions to help them think about how to behave online. If you want to know more, then do check out the website:- www.saferinternet.org.uk. Another useful site we recommend is www.thinkuknow.co.uk and staff have used resources from both of these sites.
