Change to the
normal menu on Thursday 5 October 2017
Food
and More have made a change to the normal meals menu for Thursday 5 October.
The menu for the day is now Beef Burger in a bun or Hot Dog or Vegetarian
Burger. All served with sweet potato wedges and salad; strawberry shortcake for
dessert or fresh fruit.
This
week Mrs Sheridan has been sent to help another school whilst their cook is off
sick. We hope that she will return shortly.
Open
Morning – Tuesday 3 October
In
conjunction with Little Bears, the school will be open to visitors from 9.00 to
11.45am for current families and the local community, as well as for the
families now making their decisions about their choice of primary school for
September 2018. Please do come along and see the school at work between these
times if you are able, whether you are a prospective parent or an existing one!
Admissions
to infant and primary schools
Applying to start infant and primary school
for the first time - Children born between 1 September 2013 and 31 August 2014
(inclusive) will be starting Reception from September 2018.
How to apply
From
25 October 2017 applications can be submitted for primary and infant schools.
If
you cannot apply online, you can request a paper application form from schools
and from the School
Admissions Team.
The
deadline for receipt of primary and infant school applications is 15 January 2018.
If
your application is late, it will be processed later in the year, and you are
far less likely to get a place at one of your preferred schools.
Everybody
needs to apply. Even if your child attends nursery classes within a
primary school, you must still apply for a place in the main school.
Mrs
Wilkin
Mrs Wilkin has decided to retire from her
current Teaching Assistant role and will be leaving on 28 September. However,
we are delighted that we will still see Mrs Wilkin on a regular basis as she
will be in school as usual on Thursday afternoons working with pupils in Class
1. Mrs Wilkin has been a much valued member of our team since she joined us in
2008. We will particularly miss her contribution to school plays where she has
used her ideas and talents to produce amazing scenery, some memorable
choreography and singing and also her invaluable support of children in need of
additional help. We would like to present Mrs Wilkin with a retirement gift and
would welcome contributions from parents. We also have a card for parents to
sign.
Harvest
Festival
Our annual
Harvest Festival will take place in the Hall at 9.05am on Friday 6 October and
families are most welcome to join us. Once again we will be supporting The
Porch, (http://www.theporch.org.uk/)
an
organisation which provides a stepping stone for homeless people
in Oxford, with our Harvest Gifts. We
hope that each child will be able to bring a small contribution into school
before our service. All Harvest gifts bought into school will be taken to
the village church and put on display for the Harvest Service there on Sunday 8
October, before being taken on to The Porch. The Porch prefer to receive
non-perishable items such as packets of pasta, tins of beans, bars of
chocolate, packets of biscuits, tins of tomatoes, tins of spaghetti, etc rather
than fresh produce. Thank you.

Official
Notice of the PTA's Annual General Meeting (AGM) – Tuesday 3rd October, 8pm in
the School Hall
The PTA plays a vital part in the school
community and all parents, as members of the PTA, are invited to support the
AGM. This is your chance to hear and see how the funds you have helped to raise
have been used for the benefit of the children at our school.
The PTA Committee (Chair, Treasurer,
Secretary) will be elected at the AGM so if you are interested in taking on one
of these roles, please speak to Melanie Gravett who can give you more details
about what is involved.
We would like the AGM to be a relaxed and
informal meeting – drinks and nibbles will be provided. Please come along
to find out more about what the PTA committee does and how you can support us
through the forthcoming year.
PTA
Facebook Page
Just another reminder that the PTA has a
Facebook page used to promote our fundraising events, to remind parents when
events are coming up and to ask parents for donations or additional
help. (Individual concerns about our children or what happens in
the classroom during the school day are outside of the PTA remit and should not
be raised on the PTA Facebook page – the page is monitored by the PTA committee).
The
link is below.
It
is a closed group, so you will need to make a request to join the group.
When requesting to join, please include your name, your child’s name and their
year group.
