Week Ending 23 November 2018

Children In Need and Tiggywinkles Fundraising
Thank you to all those who came to school with a ‘spotty accessory’ and donated to these charities last week. We raised an impressive £158! This will be split between both charities who will each receive £79.

Meerkat Champion of the Week

Class 1 Jake
Class 2 Ivy
Class 3 Ellie

Congratulations to you all!

Music Service Opportunities
We recently sent home, via bookbags, a flyer from Oxfordshire County Music Service promoting opportunities for music lessons with them. This followed a demonstration of violin playing by a strings teacher from OCMS during a recent school assembly. We understand that KS1 children can access strings lessons through the County Music Service and their contact details are of the flyer.

The music service also offers a ‘Give It A Go’ lesson for pupils who may be interested in taking up a woodwind instrument (clarinet, flute, oboe and saxophone). If there is a genuine interest in taking up this offer, please let the school office know and if there is enough interest we will liaise with our current OCM woodwind teacher to set this up. Thank you.

 Karate Club Success!
A number of children attending our after school Karate club, run by Mr Martyn King, took their first grading last weekend. All children who entered passed! They now have a new belt and a certificate of achievement. Congratulations to all who took part in their first grading and thank you to Mr King!

PTA News:

Festive Fundraising
Everyone should have received details of our festive fundraising events taking place between now and the end of term.  Please return permission slips for the Festive Fun Evening on Friday 30th November and the Film Night on Friday 7th December to the office as soon as possible.  Please also return raffle tickets for the draw taking place on the evening of the 30th November.

We need chocolate and sweet treats for our tombola at the Festive Fun Night - chocolate, sweets, boxes, multi packs, small bars, large packs - anything goes!  Please leave any donations in the PTA box in the hall.

Don’t forget the Wreath Evening on Wednesday 5th December (please see Georgina Wiggins for tickets) and the bar at the KS2 evening performance of ‘Aladdin Trouble!’ on Tuesday 11th December from 5.45pm.

If you need any further details about any of our festive fundraising, please speak to any member of the PTA committee.

Christmas Cards designed by your children have now arrived in school and have been sent home in book bags.  If you placed an order, we hope you are pleased with your festive items!
