Week Ending 17 May 2019
During May we are focusing on the core value of Understanding
SATs Tests
Congratulations to our Year 6 pupils who seem to have coped very well with their SATs this week. They demonstrated stamina and focus but were visibly relieved at the end of the last test! Thank you to all the members of the Governing Body who have been in school frequently this week to help with the administration of the SATs.
Advance
notice - School Photographs!
Following on from the success of our Year
Group photographs last year, FishPole Photography will be in school on Friday 7th
June to capture the Year Groups again.
Please let Mrs Kerbey know if for any
reason, you do not want your child to be included.
Nits
Thank you to the parent who has kindly let
us know that she has treated her children for nits recently. It does appear
that more than one class is affected at the current time and we therefore
respectfully suggest that ALL parents
please check their children’s hair over the weekend and treat if there is any
evidence of nits. If everyone does this there is an excellent chance that this
outbreak could be cleared up quickly. Thank you in advance, for your
co-operation.
Book Fair Reminder
Leaflets have gone out in book bags this
week. Please come and see a great selection of books chosen carefully to
inspire and entertain young readers and
earn, by way of commission, free books for school. The Book Fair will be
open on the following days;
Wednesday 22nd May – after
school only
Thursday 23rd May – before and
after schoolFriday 24th May – before and after school.
Further
Staffing Update
A letter was emailed to families yesterday
with a further update regarding some changes to school staffing that we are
pleased to be able to share with you.- As of
September 2019, Mrs Stafford will take on the role of school Special
Educational Needs and Disabilities Co-ordinator (SENCo). Mrs Garrard
continues to be our SENCo for the remainder of this term and will be
working closely with Mrs Stafford in the coming weeks to ensure a smooth
hand-over of this important role.
- Mrs Singleton has been appointed as part-time School Business Manager (SBM), working closely with Mrs Kerbey and Mrs Scragg in the school office. This appointment is temporary in the first instance, as we adjust to working with colleagues in the Acer Trust. Mrs Singleton will continue as Teaching Assistant in Class 3 in the mornings and carry out her SBM role in the afternoons.
We wish them both every success, and satisfaction,
in their new roles.
Year
6 ICC Buddying Sessions
In June, Year 10 students from Icknield Community
College will be visiting Stadhampton Primary
School to run three one hour sessions for Year 6 students to help ease their
transition to secondary school.
The sessions will take place on the following
Wednesdays from 3.30 – 4.30, with the themes:
12 June: Getting
to Know You
19 June: Finding
My Way Around
26 June: Working Together
The Buddying sessions will enable our Year 6
children to meet older students from Icknield before their transfer, as well
providing them with an opportunity to ask any questions they might have
(directly to students rather than to teachers!).
The sessions will be fun and practical and will be
supervised by a member of staff from Stadhampton School. We do hope that your
child will be able to benefit from this opportunity.
Please confirm with the school office whether your child will or won’t
be able to attend the Buddying sessions.
