Week Ending 08 March 2019

Headteacher Recruitment Update from the Governors
We are delighted to announce that the interview day was successful and that Miss Emma Charnock has been offered the role of Headteacher from September 2019.

It is testament to Miss Charnock that she was successful, as we had a very strong group of candidates who applied for the role, and three high calibre individuals invited to the interview day.  The Governing Body would like to thank Mrs Turner and all staff for their support through the recruitment process, particularly on Monday where there was some disruption to the school day which enabled us to plan activities to assess the required attributes for the role.

From conversations with Miss Charnock, we know that she is very excited to join us at Stadhampton and lead us on the next stage of our exciting journey.

Year 6 SAT’s Meeting
We would like to remind you that there is a meeting for parents regarding the Year 6 SAT’s on Tuesday 19th March straight after school in Class 3.

In this meeting we will discuss:

·         The timetable for SAT’s week

·         The Standardised Scoring system

·         Examples of questions

·         How you can help your child prepare

We recommend attendance at this meeting to better understand the process. If you are unable to attend, please let the office know.

 Individual Pupil Target Sheets
Following recent routine mid-term assessments, teachers have updated the individual pupil target sheets. These documents, along with an accompanying explanatory letter, were sent home via bookbags on Wednesday.

Jian-zi Tournament 2019
It is has become an established tradition at Stadhampton School to have a jian-zi tournament every year, at around the time of Chinese New Year.

This year the scores were very close in some year groups, but the top scorers in each year group from Year 1 to Year 6 were; Noah (3), Harvey, (16), Ollie (25), Jack (6), Harvey (151) and Josh (12)

So our overall top scorer this year was Harvey with his remarkable score of 151. Congratulations and thank you to all who took part, particularly to Harvey who will now have his name and score added to our jian-zi trophy. We await to hear the results from our friends in Poland and find out whether this year Harvey is also our international winner! We will update you when we have this information.

Visit to Compton Verney – a message from the children
“On Tuesday 5th March, Classes 2 and 3 went to Compton Verney Art Gallery. Class 2 did some screen printing and found some patterns to sketch and saw Enid Marx and Mark Hearld’s patterns and creations. We enjoyed it so much and all the class enjoyed the screen printing.”

Report by Honor and Jack S

“On Tuesday Class 2 and 3 went to Compton Verney Art Gallery. One of the first pieces of art we saw was a great big exploding volcano, it was extravagant and beautiful. The volcano itself is in Italy. It shows how much detail goes in to art. One side was angry and exploding and the other side was calm and peaceful. The second piece of art was ‘Thrashing Storm on the Ocean Waves’. In the painting there were people on rocks saving other people who were injured. This piece of art is also set in Italy. Then we went upstairs and saw lots of models, for example a gigantic tea pot. Later that day we re-created the paintings that we saw with lots of different mediums. It was a really fun day. Thank you Compton Verney and Mrs Garrard for organising it.”
