Forest School News
Forest School is a well-established and
valued part of school life at Stadhampton School. All pupils benefit from
regular Forest School sessions and we are very grateful to Mrs Mel Gravett (a
member of staff and our Forest School Leader), the many parents who volunteer
to assist Mrs Gravett with these sessions, Mr and Mrs Campbell who generously
allow us to have our Forest School sessions on their land, the PTA for
financial support with resources and the Governing Body for supporting our
on-going provision of Forest School sessions, both as part of our school
development plan and from a school budget perspective.
We are proud to be able to offer this
opportunity for all pupils and delighted that we are in a position to extend
our Forest School sessions, on a trial basis, for 2018-2019. From September
2018 we will;

Details of the dates for the Autumn Term
sessions will be circulated next week.
We appreciate that Mrs Gravett has made
herself available for these additional sessions, as we need a qualified Forest
School Leader to enable them to take place, and that we will need to rely on
parent volunteers to ensure we have the appropriate adult:pupil ratio for each
session. No doubt Mrs Gravett will be seeking out volunteers in the near
future, in readiness!
At
a time when our education system demands so much of children, we are convinced
that Forest School has an important role to play in helping develop
well-rounded children. Here are just some of the benefits:
- learning
perseverance and determination
- problem-solving
skills and learning to take risks
- improved
physical health from spending time outdoors
- learning how
to offer and accept help (emotional intelligence)
- teamwork,
improved physical coordination
- learning
resilience and resourcefulness, and developing initiative.

Official Notice of the PTA's
Annual General Meeting (AGM) – Wednesday 3 October, 8pm in the School Hall
The PTA plays a vital part in the school
community and all parents, as members of the PTA, are invited to support the
AGM. This is your chance to hear and see how the funds you have helped to raise
have been used for the benefit of the children at our school.
We appreciate the date of the AGM in
October is a while away, but we wanted official notice of the meeting to be
sent out before the summer holidays so that everyone has time to think about
coming along to the meeting and / or getting more involved with the PTA.
The PTA Committee (Chair, Treasurer,
Secretary) will be elected at the AGM so if you are interested in taking on one
of these roles for the forthcoming academic year, please speak to Melanie
Gravett who can give you more details about what is involved.
Our next PTA committee meeting will now be
on Wednesday 12 September at 8pm, venue TBC.
