Newsletter No 22 / 16th July 2010

As next week is a short week, it is envisaged that this will be the final newsletter of this academic year.

PE Kit on Monday
Please could all pupils ensure that they have PE kit in school on Monday morning as a coach from Premier Sports Group is leading a special morning of PE for Classes 1, 2 and 3.

School Meal Price Increase
A reminder that the cost of a school meal rises on 1st September to £2.05. School meals must be ordered, and paid for please, on the first morning of the school week. Cheques for school meals should be made payable to Oxfordshire County Council with Stadhampton Primary School written on the back of the cheque.

PTA
The PTA would like to thank parents for their wonderful support in this school year and look forward to many fundraising and social events for the new year starting in September. A quiz night is already planned for October and there will be another clothes recycling opportunity after the October Holiday. The first PTA meeting is scheduled for Tuesday 14th September, 8pm at 15B Newells Close (Eimer Fernie’s house) and all parents are warmly invited to attend this meeting.

Extended Services Opportunities
Details were e-mailed to parents earlier this week about an exciting event happening at Watlington Primary School on 9th August and also about a 10-week course for parents on “Promoting Positive Behaviours” starting in Chalgrove on 29th September.

Sports Evening
The hot, dry, reliable weather of last week seems less reliable now! We remain hopeful that Sports Evening will take place tonight as planned, but Mrs Hopkins will send e-mails to all families if there is any change of plan. (If we do need to cancel on Friday, we are provisionally planning to run the races for pupils at 2pm on Wednesday 21st July.)

Report on the Comenius Visit to Poland by pupils, parents and staff
Please find attached a report on this “eventful” visit to Poland. The report has been compiled by Jolyon Roe with contributions from all families who participated. I hope this gives all families at Stadhampton School an insight into this extraordinary visit. We will be pleased to welcome a group of pupils, parents and staff to Stadhampton School from Hazlach in late September. At the end of September, we will be submitting a final report on the Comenius Project to the British Council on completion of the project.

Partnership Tennis Tournament
Several Year 5 and 6 pupils from Stadhampton School enjoyed playing a round-robin competition against pupils at Watlington School at the Partnership Tennis Tournament earlier this week. All pupils particularly enjoyed the excellent facilities at the Watlington Tennis Club. Congratulations to Robbie and Alex who won, and to Benedict and Rory and also Oliver and Peter who came joint second. The four Year 4 girls who also went along enjoyed playing their matches against each other.

Swimming at Berinsfield
Swimming will begin at the Abbey Sports Centre for Class 2 pupils on Monday 6th September. They will have 7 sessions, and we hope that parents will be willing, as always, to contribute £1 per pupil, per week, towards the transport costs.

Little Bears News
It has been a very quiet week at Little Bears. Twelve of our children have spent three days with Miss Mould in the Reception Class at school. We have of course seen and heard them playing and it appears to us they have had a fabulous time. The staff and remaining children have missed them very much. For the few children we have had in this week we have had a very chilled time, allowing them to choose favourite activities.
We are having our sports day and picnic on Thursday 22nd July at 11am until 1pm, therefore hoping for good weather!
We would like to wish all our leavers the very best of luck in the future and all of you a fantastic summer.
