Meeting to discuss Class 1 arrangements for September 2019
Thank you to those parents who attended the meeting held in school last Monday to discuss merging Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 in the short term. We also received a small number of emails raising questions which were also brought to the meeting. We felt it was a very constructive meeting, with discussions relating to practical implications, meeting the needs of all children and strategic planning. Thank you for all the considered questions raised and we hope that your concerns have been addressed. We are confident that staff and pupils will readily adjust to this new arrangement – with the constraints on the school budget and the number of pupils on roll in September, we have no option.

Big Science Event
On Thursday the 4th July, Casey, Thomas, Mya, Olivia, Elizabeth and Ella went to the Grand Final of the Big Science Event! The day started off with a little play around with bubbles (it made such cool shapes). We then were sent off to the theatre and the lady explained how the day would go. Luckily, we were in the second round so we didn’t have to go first (none of us wanted to!) We then had to design a box or envelope that would hold exactly 130 pompoms and we only had one to look at! We succeeded! Afterwards, we had to find out how much sugar was in different types of food and drink and were real Scientists! We all then had a break. Finally, it was time for us to show out presentation. We were all quite nervous but we did it and we did it really well!!! Then we had lunch and we played a few games of hide and seek. Then we looked around the exploration zone, there were lots to look at and do and we found it really fun and interesting. It was time for results … we didn’t come first, second or third, but we all got goody bags and we were all really proud of ourselves to have got that far – one of only 11 school teams selected for the final out of over 100 applications! – By Olivia

'Developing a Positive Mindset' Assemblies
On Tuesday 2nd and Wednesday 3rd July, Lisa and Shirley came to school to help us turn negative thoughts into positive thoughts which would help us in times of worry. We learnt some breathing exercises and a short meditation. Each child also made a “happy stone” J to take home which we decorated with pictures and happy words. They taught us exercises to reduce stress and get rid of bad thoughts. They also showed us how to clear our brain and make us smile and to think about happy and funny thoughts. Fun Run with Whacky Hair
The School council would like to invite all pupils to take part in a fun run on Wednesday 17th July. For added extra fun we will have a ‘Whacky Hair’ day – so please join in and donate £1 to school council funds, currently they are planning to buy “wet break” resources for each class.

PTA News
Sports Night - Friday 12th July
As ever, the PTA will be running a bar and BBQ at Sports Night on Friday 12th July.

Tickets for the BBQ are on sale, priced at £2.50 for burgers, sausages and vegetarian option.  Please see Melanie Gravett or Carol Holmes for tickets or leave payment and details of the tickets you need in the office and we will get tickets to you.

We know it is difficult to predict how many BBQ items each family will want on the evening, but it really does help with catering if tickets are bought in advance.  We will have some extras on the evening, but not many so please do try and plan ahead!

Children’s Disco - Thursday 18th July
We will be holding an end of term disco for the children on Thursday 18th July (last Thursday of term) from 5.30pm until 7pm.  Letters with permission slips will be in book bags shortly.

Official Notice of the PTA's Annual General Meeting (AGM) – Wednesday 2nd October, 8pm in the School Hall
The PTA plays a vital part in the school community and all parents, as members of the PTA, are invited to support the AGM. This is your chance to hear and see how the funds you have helped to raise have been used for the benefit of the children at our school.

We appreciate the date of the AGM in October is a while away, but we wanted official notice of the meeting to be sent out before the summer holidays so that everyone has time to think about coming along to the meeting and / or getting more involved with the PTA.

The PTA Committee (Chair, Treasurer, Secretary) will be elected at the AGM so if you are interested in taking on one of these roles for the forthcoming academic year, please speak to Melanie Gravett who can give you more details about what is involved.

Stadhampton Village “Do” This Saturday From 2pm
Please find attached the flyer for this weekend's village do - it's a DO, just for want of another name; not quite a festival, a few stalls but not just a fete, it's just a bit of do for everyone in the village, for EVERYONE. To come and meet with one another in a relaxed atmosphere, to enjoy a bit of live music - including our very own pupils at Stadhampton Primary School singing songs from the recent Festival of Voices event at Dorchester Abbey - they've been practising really hard so please do come along and support them, maybe bring a picnic or enjoy something on offer...

There are a few food options: Brownings Pizza, The Crown of Stadhampton Crêpes (who'll also be running a BAR) and later on Fish & Chips (from about 5/6pm). The Oxfordshire Chocolate Company have a stall and there's two tombola’s; Sweet & Bottle.

Little Bears and First Steps are hosting a Children's Zone and we have Poppets Ponies, a Mega Slide and a number of smaller stalls selling plants and produce too. It's a Small affair, with big hopes for a lovely, friendly village event.

Saturday 6 July - live band The Paves kick off the event at 2pm...

Bring family, friends, pets too (on leads). We hope to see you there.

Mercy in Action – School Shoes Appeal
We are supporting a request from Mrs Edwina Humm, a village resident, in promoting the Mercy in Action Charity who are collecting good condition used children’s school shoes to send to the Philippines. If you have any shoes that you wish to donate please bring them to the school office from where the charity will collect them. Thank you.
