Week ending 8 June 2018
Happy
JUNE Birthday to: Freya
Clapton, Betsy Clarke-Bye, Maya Jacobs, Sidney Mason-Fowler, Ivy Odell, Casey
Price and Ellie Wiggins.
During JUNE we are focusing on the core
value of PATIENCE
End
of an Era!
After 21 years at Stadhampton Primary
School managing the school office and school finances, Mrs Hopkins has let us
know that she will be retiring at the end of this term.
Mrs Hopkins has seen a great many changes
over the last 21 years and has made significant contributions to the school
over this time which we thank her for. We shall, of course, miss Mrs Hopkins as
a colleague and as a friend but wish her a very happy and well-deserved
retirement!
We shall be recruiting a “Mrs Hopkins
replacement” in the near future and will keep you updated.
Year
6 Cycle Training – Trainers Required!
For many years we
have offered ROSPA cycle training sessions to our Year 6 pupils. The training
has been provided by our very supportive parent volunteers. This year we are
struggling to find enough volunteers, or a leader, to be able to offer the
cycle training to our current Year 6 pupils. If you would be willing to
volunteer for this very worthwhile cause, please speak to Mrs Hopkins or Mrs
Scragg in the school office as soon as possible. If we can secure enough
volunteers, then we will still have just enough time to organise the course.
Thanking you in anticipation!
Book
Fair
Thank you to everyone who purchased books
and stationery items from the book sale this week. We were able to take £69
worth of books for our class libraries by way of commission from this year’s
Book Fair.
Swimming
A reminder that Class 2 swimming starts on
Monday 11th June and there are 6 sessions. As always, we are most grateful to
receive a ‘voluntary contribution’ from parents towards the cost of the
transport (currently £75 a visit) in cash or by cheque please (for £12 for the
six sessions,) with cheques made payable to Stadhampton Primary School. Thank
you.
Recorders
Weekly recorder lessons for all children in Classes 2 and 3
also start again on Monday 11th June - please can children bring in their
recorders and recorder books every Monday for the rest of this term. Thank you.
Piano Lessons
Piano lessons for children in Classes 2 and 3 are available
in school with Mrs Drake, a local piano teacher and parent of former
pupils. Mrs Drake is offering 'taster sessions' on the afternoon of Thursday
5th July in readiness for starting in the new school year. If you would like to
follow-up this opportunity, please e-mail Mrs Drake directly (tjdrake@btinternet.com)
or give her a call on 07918188519.
Guitar Lessons
Guitar lessons are also available for children in Classes 2
and 3. These are provided by Mr Russ Payne who can be contacted by e-mail
(goguitarmail@yahoo.co.uk)
Class
3’s Interior Design Exhibition
Class 3 have recently been looking at the work of David Hockney in
Art lessons. Inspired by Hockney, we decorated shoebox rooms. We used paint,
pastels and other materials to complete our interior designs. We would love for
you to see our work on display on Monday 11th June at 3:15pm in the
main hall. Work will be on display until 3:45pm. For those children attending
After School Archery Club, there will be an additional opportunity for parents
to see their work between 4.15 and 4.30pm.
Change
to Menu on 21 June
Food & More have advised us that on
Thursday 21 June there will a BBQ themed menu instead of the usual menu. The
details are on display outside the kitchen and on the attached flyer.
Advance
notice - School Photographs!
A reminder that Year Group photographs will be taken for the first time this year
as an experiment to see whether this is something that parents would like to
purchase. The year group photographs will be taken on Thursday 14 June and the usual individual photographs, photographs
of siblings, etc will be taken on Friday
21 September.
Please let Mrs Hopkins know if for any
reason, you do not want your child to be included.
PTA
News:
Tea
Towels and Shopping Bags
Your
children may have mentioned that they have been busy drawing individual images
representing themselves - some have drawn self portraits, others have drawn
pictures of pets or items showing hobbies and other interests. There are
some great pictures!
We
will be collating these images to represent Stadhampton Primary School in 2018
and arranging for these to be printed on tea towels and shopping bags for
families to order should they wish.
Order
forms with further details will be in book bags shortly (one per family).
If you could like to place an order, then please make sure your form and
payment are returned to the office by Friday 15th June at the latest.
Tea
towels will be £5 each and the shopping bags £5.50 each, with all monies raised
going towards PTA funds. Cheques should be made payable to Stadhampton Primary
School PTA.
There
is a sample of a tea towel and a shopping bag in the hall on the table under
the screen.
If
anyone needs any further details, please ask a member of the PTA committee.
Our
next PTA meeting is on Wednesday 13th June at 8pm in The Crown. All
welcome!
Cake
Club
Thank you to Ame for providing 2 prizes for the last
draw. Well done to Olivia and Noah for winning them. This week’s cake is being
kindly provided by Georgina. Thank you.
