National
Storytelling Week
We had an unusual delivery at school on
Monday 29 January - an old brown suitcase containing an odd selection of
objects from far and wide! Who did the suitcase belong to and why was it
delivered to school? The children have looked closely at the objects and formed
their own ideas about how they link together. They then wrote their own story
about the mysterious suitcase and in Wednesday’s assembly we heard a selection
of the stories from across the school. The children listened silently to other
people’s amazing ideas.
We
would also like to thank all those parents and grandparents who came in to
share stories with the children last week, an experience we hope you enjoyed as
much as the children did. Thank you.
Any
children who have particularly enjoyed writing their stories may like to be
aware that there is an annual BBC Radio 2 '500 Words' story writing
competition. The competition is open to children from age 5 to 13 and further
details, including how to enter online and a description of the spectacular
prizes, can be found on the BBC website via the following link https://www.bbc.co.uk/500wordscompetition/login
Good
luck to anyone who enters - the deadline for entries is 22nd February!

LITTLE
BEARS NEWS:
We
began our week by focusing on our favourite stories again starting with “The Gruffalo”,
“The Hungry Caterpillar” and our all time favourite “We’re going on a Bear Hunt!”
We also looked at how to keep ourselves healthy and made our own healthy
sandwiches for a snack.
The
children have also been drawing and presenting family portraits which are now displayed
on the Little Bears gallery.
We
hope everyone has a peaceful break.
Advance Notice of an Easter Sports Club:
Michael Hopkins, who is well-known to the school as
a PE teacher will be leading an Easter Sports Course on Monday 9, Tuesday 10
and Wednesday 11 April at Stadhampton Primary School. The course runs from

School) aged 4-11. The cost is £10 for the day and bookings can be made
