Parent Governor Vacancy – please do think about applying!

A reminder that we currently have a vacancy for one parent governor and invite applications from parents or anyone who has parental responsibility for a pupil on the school roll at the time of the election. Parent governors, like all governors, will be most effective if they bring relevant skills and experience, as well as the ability to work as part of a team. We need committed parent governors to make the governing body as effective as it can be.  All nominations should be sent in to the school office by 3.15pm on Tuesday 12 December 2017. If you would like to know a little more about becoming a parent governor, please get in touch with any member of the governing body.

Climbing Frame in the outside Reception area

We are very excited to report that the new climbing frame for Reception pupils is now fully installed and concreted in onto a suitable base in the Reception class outdoor area. This expenditure was fully funded from the PE and Sports Grant which the Government currently give to primary schools. The grant is ‘ring-fenced’ and must be used to fund additional and sustainable improvements to the provision of PE and sport, for the benefit of primary-aged pupils, to encourage the development of healthy, active lifestyles. In recent years we saved our grant up for two years in order to create the additional netball and basketball court fully in place now next to the school swimming pool. We hope that both of these facilities will be enjoyed by current pupils and by new pupils coming to Stadhampton School for many years to come.

Thank you

A huge thank you to Mr Burnell for erecting the new climbing frame last week in the Reception outside area and for putting the stage up for us this week.

Christmas Party arrangements

Christmas Party: during the afternoon on Thursday 14 December. School meal or packed lunch required as usual. School & PTA will supply party food, drinks & prizes. Children may bring party clothes to change into after lunch if they wish. After school multisports will be on as usual for participating pupils. Please bring PE kit for the after school session.

Christmas Lunch arrangements

Christmas Lunch on Friday 15 December: It is a tradition at Stadhampton School that the whole-school joins in our Festive Lunch which, this year, is on 15 December and we hope that no-one will have a packed lunch on that day.

The menu is:

Roasted Turkey with pigs in blankets, or Roasted Quorn with VeggieBanger; Yorkshire Pudding, stuffing; roast potatoes, carrots, peas, Brusell sprouts, and gravy. Dessert is a festive ice-cream star. We can accommodate requests such as no gravy, no sprouts, etc.

The cost of the meal is £2.20 and all pupils make their special place mat in the morning and we have crackers, napkins and music. Staff serve the pupils with their meal. Payment for the meal for pupils in Classes 2 and 3 is welcome at anytime prior to the event. Pupils who normally have a Free School Meal may still do so on this day and all pupils in Reception and Class 1 are entitled to a Universal Infant Free School Meal so will get their lunch free on this day too!

Don’t forget it is also Christmas Jumper Day and pupils are asked to pay £1 to come to school in a Christmas Jumper, which will be given to the Save the Children fund.

Forest School Dates

The forest school dates for January through to the end of March are attached to this newsletter. They have also been uploaded to the school website and the school calendar on the website. Please could  parents/children make a note when their forest school sessions are so that appropriate clothing is brought to school on those days. Thank you.

Winter Fair

A huge thank you to everyone on the PTA, and others, who organised and ran the festive event and thank you to all families who came for your support. Thanks also to Father Christmas who, yet again, managed to find time in his busy schedule to come to Stadhampton School!

PTA News:

Winter Fair

Thank you to everyone who supported the Winter Fair last Friday.  It was a lovely evening, hopefully enjoyed by all.  The Fair raised a total of just over £1,000, which will boost PTA funds and will be spent on resources in school later in the year.

On the whole, this year's Winter Fair was not as well supported as it has been in previous years, so if anyone has any suggestions for an alternative Christmas event for next year, then please do let any member of the PTA committee know.

KS2 Evening Performance - Rockerfella Cinderella

The PTA will be running a bar at the KS2 evening performance of Rockerfella Cinderella.  Refreshments will served before the performance from 6pm and after the performance as well.

Hopefully your Christmas shopping is now well underway.  Please don’t forget to use the easyfundraising.org.uk website when shopping - this raises money for the PTA at no extra cost to you!

There are over 3,000 shops and sites on board ready to make a donation, including Amazon, John Lewis, Aviva, thetrainline and Sainsbury's – it doesn't cost you a penny extra!

It's as easy as 1, 2, 3...

2. Every time you shop online, go to easyfundraising first to find the site you want and start shopping.

3. After you’ve checked out, that retailer will make a donation to the PTA for no extra cost whatsoever!

Thank you for your ongoing support.

Cake Club

Well done Sassie Burnell for winning an amazing cake supplied by Justine Bond, thank you Justine. Good luck to everyone in this week’s draw and thank you to Kayleigh Reason for providing this week’s prize.
