Newsletter for week ending 13 March 2015

Question & Answer Session with the Governing Body on Tuesday 17 March, 8pm, School Hall
A reminder that the Governing Body would like to invite all parents and carers to an informal Q&A session on Tuesday 17 March at 8pm in the school hall. This is a chance for parents and carers to find out more about what the school governors do, how they are involved with the operation of the school and to find out more about the school’s priorities.

There will be a short presentation followed by an open Q&A session. However, parents and carers are welcome to submit questions anonymously via the school office should they wish to do so.

As the aim of the session is to provide information about the work of the Governing Body and to address any questions about the overall governance of the school, neither Mrs Turner nor any of the teaching staff will be attending. Should a parent wish to talk about their child with a member of the teaching staff they should make an appointment in the usual way. Please note we will not be able to answer any questions specific to individual children.

The Chair of the Governors, Jason Hector, and the chair of the Finance Committee, Paul Gravett, as well as other members of the governing body will all be available to answer questions.

We hope you will welcome the opportunity to find out more and hope to see you on the 17th March.

Thank you in advance for your support.

Jason Hector & Paul Gravett

Work Viewing Evening on Monday 23rd March
Mid-Year Summary Reports will be sent to parents during week commencing 16th March. A reminder that there is an opportunity to see your child’s /children’s work between 3.15 and 6pm on Monday 23rd March. Teachers will be in their classrooms from 3.30 to 6pm for a brief informal discussion if required. Appointments are not made for this evening.

Reporting a Pupil Absence

We are aware that not all reports of pupil absence using the link on the school website were getting through to us and parents should have received a ‘bounce back’ notification. We have now set up a new e-mail address which this link automatically goes to and have tested it to check that it works!
If your child is going to be absent from school please either telephone on 01865 890370, or e-mail via the link on the school website or e-mail directly pupilabsence@stadhampton.oxon.sch.uk
Thank you.

Cycle Safety Training
We are very grateful to Mrs Cove, Mrs Green and Miss Moss-Black (Helen) for offering to provide cycle safety training in the summer term for any Year 6 pupils who would like to have a go. Please could those pupils confirm with Mrs Hopkins whether they would like to do this, by Monday next week. In order for pupils to put their names forward it is essential that they have an appropriately sized roadworthy cycle and a cycle helmet which conforms to British Standards and fits correctly. The training sessions will take place on 15th & 22nd May, 5th, 19th & 26th June and the test will be on 3rd July in the afternoon.

Class 3 Swimming at Berinsfield on Monday 23rd March
Mrs Boddy, the lead swimming coach at Berinsfield, has requested that all pupils in Class 3 bring a pair of old pyjamas (or a T-shirt, leggings or thin tracksuit trousers) to swimming on Monday 23rd March as part of their personal lifesaving/rescue activities. Pupils will still need to bring their usual swimming kit. Old, thin pyjamas are best as they don’t absorb too much water – fleece style pyjamas or onesies are not suitable. Thank you.
