Newsletter No 4 - 28th January 2011

Partnership Sports Hall Athletics – Report by Amy and Benedict
“At Icknield, Stadhampton Year 5’s and Year 6’s competed in the Partnership Athletics Competition on 21st January. We all had a great time and gave all events an enthusiastic try! Stadhampton did particularly well in the Boys One+One Relay (Benedict and Ben) and the Soft Javelin (Benedict and Tom), winning both. Stadhampton came a respectable 6th, out of 7 teams.”

Lost Property / Named Clothing
Joshua Matthews is missing a black hooded coat and two poloshirts – all named! If anyone has taken these items home in error, please could they be returned to school. In order to avoid confusion when pupils change for PE, it is really helpful if school clothing is named.
This may help to prevent pupils going home in the wrong poloshirts!

Street Dance Lessons
Following on from the success of this popular club we are pleased to let parents and pupils know that we intend to continue this again after half term. These sessions will again run on Tuesdays -1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd and 29th March and Tuesday 5th April. A letter will follow from Kerri via book bags in early February.

After-School Hockey
We would like to remind all participating pupils that Mrs Scragg will be unable to run Hockey Club on Monday 7th February as she will be accompanying Class 3 on their residential visit.

First Aid Training for pupils in KS2
This is being held on Monday 28th February 3.15 – 5pm in school for the following KS2 pupils: Chloe Hindmarch, Ben Drake, Chloe Brown, Andrew Oakley, Lola Odell, Jake Day, Rhys Brown, Amber Tomkins, Ella Perring, Abby Wright and Amy Akers. We appreciate that this leaves many children unable to participate due to a heavy demand for places and we will investigate the possibility of running at least one other session in the near future.

Sainsbury’s Active Kids
We shall once again be collecting Active Kids Vouchers distributed by Sainsbury’s stores, petrol stations and with online groceries between 9th February and 31st May. There is a collection box in the Hall.

After School Clubs and Safeguarding
In order for us to safeguard all pupils please advise school either via the school office or class teachers if your child/ren are not attending an after-school club that they are registered on. This also includes children registered to attend the after-school club at Chalgrove School. Thank you.

“Jian-zi” Competition
Once again our celebrations for Chinese New Year will include our annual “Jian-zi”
Competition. Pupils in each class have been practising and we will be holding the competition on Tuesday 1st February. This is an international event held with our partner school in Poland and this year we hope to regain the trophy!

Little Bears
This week we are celebrating Chinese New Year, “The Year of the Rabbit”. We are asking children to bring in their cuddly rabbits and any books they have on rabbits. We will also be doing some Chinese writing, painting chop sticks and trying some Chinese food.
