Newsletter No 1 - 7th January 2011

Happy New Year and welcome back to everyone!

Happy JANUARY Birthday to: Leo Bloomfield-Brown, Elizabeth Bowerman, Owen Cove, Thomas Cove, Myles Dobson, Matthew Ellis, Megan Green, Tia Khan, Olivia Shannon and Benjamin West.

During January our school is focusing on FRIENDSHIP

Local Author in School
On Tuesday 11th January we are pleased to welcome local author John Kitchen into school to lead writing workshops with all the children. He will be demonstrating the publishing process using his own published book “Nichola’s Ghost”, and there will be an opportunity to purchased signed copies of this at the end of the afternoon. Please see the letter sent home this week for more details.

Residental visit to Woodlands
The outstanding balance for most parents of Year 5 and 6 pupils is £230 per pupil which is due to be received in school by Monday 24th January please, prior to the visit beginning on 7th February. A letter providing more information about times, activities, etc will be sent home to parents either today or on Monday. Please look out for this in book bags.

Parentmail Data Capture Form
Thank you to all those parents who have already returned their completed Parentmail Data Capture form. We would be grateful to receive any outstanding forms as soon as possible so that we can get ParentMail set up. If you require another form please do not hesitate to request one from Mrs Hopkins to ensure that you do not miss out on valuabe communications.
As ParentMail is not yet up and running, please listen to Radio Oxford or Heart FM, should the snow return, for announcements about school closures. Wherever possible, we will also try our best to update our school website with information should the school be closed.

Swimming at Berinsfield
A reminder that swimming begins for Class 2 pupils on Monday 10th January. They will have 6 swimming sessions for which a £1 “voluntary contribution” of £1 per pupil, per week is required towards transport costs.

Little Bears
Welcome back! We hope you had a wonderful Chritmas and wish you all a Happy New Year! I am really looking forward to my new role at Little Bears and getting to know your little ones and their families. This term we will be looking at “Winter”. If you have any old CDs or DVDs we would be pleased to have them as well as kitchen roll tubes.
We are pleased to welcome Jem Burnell to Little Bears this week.

Premier Sports Afterschool football club starts for participating pupils in Years 3-6 – 3.15 – 4.15pm

Hockey club starts afterschool for participating pupils in Years 3-6, 3.15 – 4pm
Wednesday 26th January
Multi-sports club for participating pupils in Years 1 & 2, 3.15 – 4pm
Netball club for participating pupils in Years 3-6, 3.15 – 4pm
