Newsletter No 4 / 24th September 2010

Parents Consultation Evenings
This year we are making slight changes to our annual, appointments–based, parents’ evening in November. We are offering two alternative after school sessions; Monday 15th November 4.30 – 7.00pm and Wednesday 17th November 3.30 – 6.00pm. Appointments will be for 10 minutes with class teacher(s) and, as usual, parents will be able to look at their child’s/children’s work beforehand. Arrangements for making appointments will be circulated nearer the time but we hope that by being given plenty of notice and the option of either of the two dates, all parents will be able to attend one or other of the consultation evenings.

School Photographer
We would like to remind all families that the school photographer will be taking photographs during the morning of Wednesday 29th September – freshly laundered hair and combed down uniform! Each pupil will be photographed individually and with any siblings in school. If any family would like to have any family group photographs taken, please come into the school hall at 8.45am.

Kids Aid Tanzania
Congratulations to former Stadhampton School pupils Michael Amery and Jack Banting who recently canoed 130 miles along the River Thames to raise money for the charity Kids Aid Tanzania. Michael and Jack, along with two other pupils at Icknield Community College, achieved the journey in seven days. The money they raised will go towards education, food and health-care for the orphans in Tanzania.

Nit Alert
We are grateful to a parent in Class 1 for letting us know that their child has recently had nits. We would be grateful if everyone could check their child(ren’s) hair this weekend and treat if necessary, so that this problem does not spread further.

PTA Message
P.T.A. Plant Order Form - This week, parents should have received an order form and letter for Autumn plants, bulbs and hanging baskets, inside their child’s book bag. If you would like to take advantage of this great offer and help raise additional funds for the P.T.A., then please could you complete the form with the number of plants you require – don’t forget to add your child’s name and class on the bottom of the form and return it with full payment to Eimer Fernie, Sarah Madry or any other member of the P.T.A. by Friday 8th October. Please make cheques payable to: Stadhampton Primary School P.T.A. In case you haven’t received a form and would like to place an order, there are some forms available from Mrs Hopkins in the school office. The plants will be delivered to school on Monday 18th October for you to collect and take home. You can visit www.cdbell.co.uk to view the plants for sale – but please don’t place your order on line! Thank you.

Multsports Club on Tuesday afternoons
There are still places available on the Tuesday after school Multisports Club run by the SODC community sports coach, if any other Year 3-6 pupils would like to join. The cost for the remaining four weeks would be £4.

Little Bears News
At Little Bears this week poor Humpty Dumpty is falling off the wall! The children have made fantastic ‘Humpty’s’ using balloons and having great fun sticking on wool hair, googly eyes and dangly legs.
Freya Clapton joined us this week, it looks as though she will enjoy her time with us. We are all enjoying the September sunshine!
