Newsletter No 3 / 8th May

PTA News
Clothes Recycling – we have now confirmed that the clothes recycling managed to raise £91 so thank you once again to all who donated bags.

Car Boot Sale – a huge thank you to everyone who made cakes and came along and supported us on the day; thankfully the rain held off until 11.00am so we were able to sell all the plants and enough drinks and cakes to make over £150 profit.

Chiltern Chase – we are now confirming final runners and will be sending out a communal sponsorship form next week to all parents asking for donations as an option to sponsoring individuals who are running. Runners will be receiving a letter and sponsorship form from PTA for further donations or they can pop into the School office as Mrs Hopkins has some spare copies. If you are running please let us know and don’t forget to register on the official Chiltern Chase web site.

Cycling Proficiency
We are grateful to Mrs Leighfield, Mrs Scragg and Mrs Vale for offering to provide cycling proficiency training again this year. The test is booked for Tuesday 7th July at 1.30pm, with training sessions scheduled for Tuesday 2nd June, 16th June, 23rd June and 30th June. Initially this opportunity will be offered to the Year 6 pupils who have not already completed this course. Participants must have a roadworthy bicycle which is the correct size for them and a cycling helmet which will be worn during all practical training “on” or “off” the road. The maximum number of pupils able to take part is 12. Parents of pupils wishing to take part in this training opportunity should now book their place please with Mrs Hopkins.

Guinness World Record Attempt at Skipping 30th April 2009
On Thursday 30th April we participated in a mass World record skipping attempt in conjunction with Edventure Ltd. All pupils and staff took part in the event and 68 pupil names were submitted. Edventure now inform us that a total of 22,875 skippers took part and that it looks very likely that jointly, we have broken the skipping record. They are currently in the process of authenticating the information with Guiness World Record officials and this may take a couple of weeks. We will update you when we know the official outcome! Many thanks also for all donations to Alder Hay Children’s Hospital. We collected a total of £49 which will be sent directly to the hospital.

Reminders:

• Several Class 3 pupils still to return permission slips and payment for visit to The Tower of London on 19th May
• Voluntary contributions for swimming transport for Class 2 pupils for this term
• Please e-mail the school office at office.2455@stadhampton.oxon.sch.uk so that we have an e-mail address for as many families as possible in order to send the newsletter electronically and provide parents with access to the Learning Platform.
