Newsletter No 7 - 17th October 2008

As next week is a short week, (INSET Day on Friday 24th October) and with Years 5 and 6 not returning until after school on Thursday, there will not be a newsletter issued on 23rd October.

PGL
We wish pupils in Years 5 and 6, Mrs Manzie and Mrs Scragg a great time at PGL. We shall be in regular contact with them and post any news to share with you up near the school gate. We look forward to seeing them all on Thursday!

After-School Hockey Club on 20th October
A reminder that there will be no after-school hockey club on Monday 20th October as Mrs Scragg is accompanying Class 3 on their residential visit to Marchant’s Hill.

Also a reminder that other Class 3 members not going to PGL, will join Class 2 in their swimming session at the Abbey Sports Centre on Monday 20th October.

School “Energy” Mosaic
The mosaic panels for our circular outdoor stage have now been finished. They look amazing and making the panels was a truly constructive experience, involving all pupils in school. We plan to install the mosaic in its permanent location as soon as possible.

School Meals
The price of a school meal remains at £1.95 per day. Parents are requested to order and pay for meals on a Monday morning (or the first day of the week if term begins on a different day) for the week ahead or on a termly basis, eg every Friday for the next 6 weeks.

“Winter Menu” – Food with Thought will be changing their menus for “winter” which, in their calendar, starts after the October Holiday. A copy of the new menu to keep at home is attached. Mrs Shortman has asked we advise you that the full range may not be available immediately after the holiday because she has to use up her existing stock of frozen food first, (eg salmon on the new menu may be white fish initially).

Swimming at Berinsfield
Swimming will begin for Class 3 pupils on Monday 3rd November until Monday 15th December inclusive (7 sessions). As always, we are most grateful to receive a “voluntary contribution” of £1 per child per swimming session towards the transport costs, (currently £57 a session).

Parents’ Consultation Evening on 4th November
Parents of pupils in Class 3 will receive a letter specifying their appointment time with Mrs Sutton for Parents’ Evening, today. Appointment times for Classes 1 and 2 will be confirmed early next week.

Partnership Swimming Gala 16.10.2008 – Report by Cameron Vale (Year 6)
This was a brilliant swimming gala for Stadhampton School as we won for the second year running! The last race was very close but we just secured victory. Well done to all our swimmers and thank you to Mrs Scragg and Mrs Thorp for taking us.

School Council Monarch Painting Competition
The School Council has organised a Monarch Painting Competition. For pupils who wish to enter, this is on an A3 sheet of cartridge paper, provided by Mrs Sutton. The picture can be of any English monarch and can be completed in paint, pastels or collage. We hope the best four portraits will be on permanent display in school. There will be prizes! The entrance fee of 50p should be given to Mrs Sutton as soon as possible. Entries should be brought into school by Friday 7th November.

Message from the PTA Committee
Clothes collection – please start bringing in bags from Thursday 13th November after school for collection on Monday 17th November at 10.30am.

Little Bears News
This week Little Bears enjoyed making fresh fruit salad. They also had great fun making bird pictures out of hand-prints and collecting items from our garden for the “Autumn Collage” which is now on display. A reminder that everyone is welcome to join us for our Coffee Morning during half-term on Friday 31st October between 10 and 12am. It would be a particular pleasure to welcome pupils from Class 1 to this event.
