Newsletter No 5 - 3rd October 2008

Happy OCTOBER Birthday to: Benjamin Duke, Sophie Hector, Oliver Lowman and Marcin Skwarek

During OCTOBER we are focusing on the core value of “APPRECIATION”

TA Update for Class 3
We thank Clare Hopkins for providing support in both Class 3 and Class 1 since the middle of June and now wish her well as she returns to university. This week, we have interviewed applicants for the permanent TA post in Class 3 and were very pleased with the calibre of candidates. We are in the process of finalising an appointment and the new TA, who already has extensive experience, as well as formal qualifications, will start at the beginning of Term 2 (3rd November).

Harvest Festival 9.30am on Friday 3rd October
It was a pleasure to welcome so many parents and visitors to our Harvest Service in church this morning. A huge “thank you” also to everyone for sending in such a wonderful array of “Harvest Gifts.” These will be taken to The Porch Centre in Oxford, which helps homeless people.

PGL Residential Visit for Years 5 and 6 Pupils
I appreciate that parents are waiting for further information about the PGL visit to Marchants Hills which takes place from 20th – 23rd October. Details will be finalised at a meeting between the four partnership schools early next week and a letter confirming arrangements and requirements will follow shortly afterwards.

Congratulations
Congratulations to Kezia Lawson who has been selected as number one girl for the Oxfordshire Under 11 A Badminton Team. She will also be shortly receiving a bursary from SODC in recognition of her sporting achievements to date. Well done, Kezia!

Message from the PTA Committee
Another “black bag clothes collection” coming shortly! Watch this space!

Little Bears News
This week Little Bears enjoyed making carrot and apple soup and also joining “big school” several times to practise their Harvest Song which they sang beautifully in church this morning.
