Newsletter No 4 - 30th September 2011

Home/School Agreement
Each family should have received a copy of the Home/School Agreement form to sign. Thank you to the families who have already signed and returned this form to school. We hope to receive all forms back by 14th October. If you have any concerns or questions about signing this form, please contact me to discuss further.

Book Fair
We shall be holding a Book Fair in the school hall from the afternoon of Monday 31st October until the morning of Friday 4th November. We shall have the latest range of top quality reading books for sale as well as stationery items, which pupils will hopefully enjoy. Once takings have exceeded £100 the school receives commission on any other books sold and this is “spent” on buying new books for each classroom library. The Book Fair will be open each morning from 8.30am and then again in the afternoon from 3pm until 3.30pm. We would be happy for parents to stay on, after the children have gone into class for registration at 9am, if they would like to browse for Christmas presents. Leaflets have been sent home this week showing a selection of the books which will be available.

PTA News
We are meeting on the 4th October, in the School Hall, at 8pm, to discuss our calender of events. This is your chance to input into what the PTA do - what ideas have you got for fundraising, what would you like to see the PTA organise? Please feel free to come along and join us, or talk to any of
the PTA committee outside school.

The deadline for plant orders is on 3rd October. Please ensure you have your order form and money into the school office before then. Plants will be delivered to the school on Thursday 13th October.

Just think - there are less than a 100 days to Christmas! As in previous years, all the children will be designing personalised Christmas cards for you to order and use. Full details will be in book bags this week. All orders and payment will need to be in by 16th October, so be prepared to see Christmas card designs coming home soon and get your orders in!

Please remember to keep any green Waitrose charity tokens for our school collection in December. You can either put them in the collection box in the school hall now, or keep them until December to put in our collection box at the Thame store.

Recorders
Recorder lessons for all pupils in Year 3 to Year 6 will recommence on Monday 31st October. These lessons form part of the KS2 music curriculum and usually take place on Monday afternoons. Because of some changes to our Class curriculum timetables, recorder lessons will normally take place during Terms 2, 4 and 6 (i.e. the second half of each long term). For hygiene reasons pupils are asked to provide their own, named recorder – these can be bought from any good music shop, but, for convenience, we also have a stock in school and these are available at a cost of £6.50 each. Pupils in Year 3 may also benefit from having a copy of Recorder Book 1 which is also available from the school office at a cost of £3.50. Cheques for the payment of either item should be made payable to OCC.

Chiltern Edge Cross CountryFlyer attached to this newsletter for anyone who might be interested in these events.

Little Bears News
Next week we will be looking at travelling by sea. We hope to make a large yellow submarine so boxes would be greatfully received.
Has anyone got any Brio train track and/or trains that they would be willing to donate to Little Bears?
