Newsletter No 2 / 12th June 2009

Congratulations
We are delighted to let everyone know that two past pupils of Stadhampton School have been given important offices for the next academic year at Icknield Community College. Nadia Howden is the newly appointed Head Girl with Bethany Lawson appointed as Deputy Head Girl. We would like to pass on our congratulations to both ex-pupils.

Message from the PTA Committee
Chiltern Chase – it was muddy underfoot and a little wet but the sun came out just in time for a lovely run through the stunning countryside around Ewelme. A huge well done and thank you to the following Stadhampton Steamers who did a magnificent job of completing either the 5k or 10k race:
Sara & Nige Wright, Sarah Lawson & Riaz Khimji, Kathryn & John Turner, Marc Oakley, Nathan Manzie, Anna McGauran, Keith & Galina Browning, Julie Pattisson, Rachel Mannering, Jane Birchenough, Sarah Lowman, Bev Woodford, Simon Cannings, Lucy & Dave Ellis, Jonathan Pratt.
Please send in your sponsorship money in recognition of this great achievement to Mrs Hopkins or sponsor a Steamer direct. There will be a prize donated by ‘Up & Running’ for the Stadhampton Steamer who raises the most amount of sponsorship. Get your training shoes on for next year...

Africa Week
Cameron Vale Report: Jonathan’s Jungle Roadshow came to Stadhampton School to show us all the African animals in his collection. We were allowed to touch some of the animals and saw a Rainbow Stag Beetle, a Ruby Mexican Red Knee Tarantula, a Boa Constrictor and a Kenyan Sand Snake. The Sand Snake had shed it’s skin two days ago and so was at his brightest colour.

Jordan Lafford Report: We had great fun learning to dance a Tribal Warrior dance. We all enjoyed the experience of dancing with an expert dancer.

Thank you also to Mrs Amery and Ms Moeran who also came in to talk to pupils about their African experiences.

Partnership “Kwik Cricket” Tournament on 10th June
It was a pleasure to accompany our cricket team to this annual event and I was very proud of their achievements. Many thanks to the parents who helped with transport and supported our team.
Here is a tournament report by Aimee Parkes and Jessica Tombling:

On Wednesday 10th June, 10 eager cricketers went to Ewelme School for the tournament. We played 4 matches and won our group. The final was against Watlington Primary Group A which we lost 213 to 228. Overall we were the runners up! Everyone really enjoyed playing cricket, some people hit sixes and fours! Thank you to Mrs Amery, Mr Pattisson, Mr Birtles, Mrs Vale and Mrs Turner for taking us and supporting us.
